MAX GREEN – Level 2 Portable EV Charger (16 Amp) Charging specifications

This electric vehicle charger has an amperage of 16 Amps and works at a 240V Voltage, however there is also a 32 Amp version available on Amazon, but that one is build differently.

This is a Portable EVSE Electric Car Charger which means you don’t have to have the charger installed on the wall in your garage, you can carry it around with you.

And now let’s get to what really matters to the EV Owner: This has a rated AC Charging power of 3.84 Kw. This means that if you own the standard Tesla Model 3 with the 50 KWh battery it should charge your car in more or less 13 hours, a Model Y with a 75Kh battery pack would take about 19.5, your standard 64Kwh Kona will charge in 17 hours, a 30KwH Leaf should be fully charged in 8 hours. These are the charging times up to 100%. Now please note that these are estimations and they can vary, especially in terms of the miles of range that you ultimately get.

Now we also have to mention what MAX GREEN states: “6 miles per hour” of charge. That of course will vary as well and is just an estimation.

MAX GREEN – Level 2 Portable EV Charger (16 Amp) Cable types and connectors

The EV charging cable length is 25 feet (7.6 meters) and it can plug into a NEMA 10-30 wall socket. The 32 Amp version from Amazon also offers 6-20, 5-15 and 10-30 wall connectors.

The part that plugs into the car is a standard SAE J1772 which means it will be compatible with virtually any EV that you can buy. The charge port and the cable itself is tethered to the charger, so you can’t disconnect it. But remember, this is a common thing across all Home Electric Vehicle Charging Stations in America.

MAX GREEN – Level 2 Portable EV Charger (16 Amp) Features

It doesn’t have an LCD display and instead there are 4 LED lights that can tell you whether it is plugged in, whether it is charging the car (That one will be blinking while it’s in operation) together with the AC Output which should be on if there is electric energy flowing through it to the car and if there is a fault. You’ll have to read the charging level and charging rate directly from your car’s dashboard.

There is no connectivity, this isn’t a smart charger so there’s no smartphone app, no Alexa or Google Home integration and also it can’t do scheduled charging to take advantage of off-peak electricity and bring down the charging cost. However, it is frequently possible to have your car handle the schedule straight from the dashboard. Tesla cars have this option, so does the Chevy Bolt and the Nissan Leaf. But it is common for Portable Electric Car Chargers in this price range not to have any kind of connectivity.

This Compact Home EV Charger has an IP66 rating so you can expect it to be mostly waterproof and dustproof (Don’t splash it though intentionally). What is also nice about this charger is that it will be delivered to you in a handy carrying case. So if there is a case, why did we not include in the specifications at “What’s in the Box?”. This is because when you read through the description on the Amazon page, they never mention the case, but we know they send it with the charger as a bonus, something confirmed by users.

MAX GREEN will also offer you a full 1-Year No-Hassle warranty and it is not heavy at all, weighing 7.85 lbs (3.5 kg).

In terms of safet features, they do mention that it can withstand lightning and it has circuit breakers in the form of overvoltage and overcurrent protection.
